A British architecture that was built in 1865 on Gushan
(Mt. Gu), northern shore of the Port of Kaohsiung
(Kaohsiung was called Dagou in the Qing Dynasty).
Standing roughly 30 km above the water surface, and
surrounded by cliffs on the east, west and south sides,
and annexed to Gushan on the north, this building was
a vital location the British used for customs duty works
at the time due to its geographical advantages.
